DISSOLVED AIR FLOTATION (DAF)Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) systems are a great way to remove positively and neutrally buoyant liquids and particulate from a waste stream. This removal method is a time tested and economical treatment solution for the removal of solids, oils, grease, fibrous materials, and BOD/COD. Removal rates of solids can continuously exceed 99%.

HOW IT WORKS
Air flotation utilizes the injection and thorough mixture of small air bubbles into water to enhance the buoyancy of contaminants. Air is saturated into a recycle stream which is introduced with the influent at the front of the tank. The air saturated water equalizes with the atmosphere when injected into the tank, which causes the release of microbubbles into the wastewater. Once released, the microbubbles adhere to flocculated solids and liquids in the waste stream causing them to float to the surface of the tank. The water then flows under a baffle ensuring a clean effluent. The floated solids are then mechanically skimmed from the surface. Any solids that do not float will settle to the bottom for removal. |
